Please ensure you have the refusal letter from Pupil Placement to hand when you complete this form.  Your must submit your appeal within 28 days of receipt of the refusal letter.

If you do not have a refusal letter, do not submit this form until you receive a letter advising that your application for a school place has been refused.

Once you submit this form, you will receive an automatic e-mail receipt. You will then be contacted by an officer from committee services who will ensure your appeal is progressed for consideration by the independent West Lothian (Placing in Schools) Appeal Committee.

Appeals are normally held within 3-4 weeks.  However, in May and June each year the volume of appeals increases and it will take between 6-8 weeks for your appeal to be considered by the Committee.

You can only appeal once in any 12 month period for each child who has been refused a place.  You can only appeal against the refusal of your 1st choice school.  More information about the appeals process in West Lothian can be found in the  Placing in Schools Appeal Leaflet (PDF) [363KB] (opens new window) .  You can also read more about placing appeals in the Scottish Government's Choosing a School Guide for Parents (opens new window)
